A world where heterophobia exists.
While I may not know what it is like, this short film gives us some insight. In this short film, being homosexual is normal and being heterosexual is frowned upon. A completely reversed viewpoint from our world. This is an incredible video with a powerful message. I consider myself to be a straight ally to the LGBT community and I never really thought of things this way. This short is incredibly and I strongly suggest everyone to watch it. It may change your mind about a lot of things.
Love is love.

Current Obsession: James Arthur & X Factor UK

If you follow X Factor UK, you will know that James Arthur won the show. I didn't start watching X Factor (USA & UK) until I heard all these nonsense about Cece Frey on the US version. Then I discovered Union J (who I ADORE) and then James Arthur. I will say one thing - he DESERVES it.
I watched his audition once and it kind of stuck to me. It was a very unforgettable performance. Coupled with the fact that he seems to be a perfectionist in his work and compliments are just never enough for him. He is a genuine artist and I think our music industry needs this.
From what I have read about James, his parents split when he was young, he was living in a dingy bedsit (one room apartment would be the American/Canadian term) and had to struggle to even get food on the table for himself before auditioning for the X Factor. He was depressed at one point and contemplated suicide but he was said to have thought about his siblings and did not want to be selfish because they look up to him (awwwww).
He covers Shontelle's "Impossible" and it is now his single. I liked "Impossible" from the get-go but he made me LOVE this song. He truly made it his own. I am so in love! James Arthur is going to be huge and he deserves everything. I think what I love about him is he doesn't see himself as a celebrity. He's just so normal and I admire that about him. Well done, X Factor UK.
What are your thoughts on the results?

Current Obsession: Union J

Being a fan of One Direction (I'm no Directioner though), you often hear that Union J is their enemy. I never understood or tried to understand why. I just kind of went "oh, okay" I didn't have an interest in Union J anyway. Then I saw a picture of George on Tumblr and went, holy hell, he's like the Harry Styles of Union J. I checked out their X Factor performances and went... THEY. ARE. AMAZING. I wish I appreciated them earlier.
I had a huge crush on Jaymi and then read he came out and went.. well, fuck. But no, I applaud him for being so brave and respect his sexual orientation. I do, still have a crush on him and his voice. His voice seriously blew me away! Beautiful, beautiful vocals.
Here is one of my favourite performances of theirs. AMAZING!

Review: The Avenue - Episode 1 (Season 2)
The Avenue is back for a second season! What's this avenue I speak of, you say?

It's a reality TV show starring Gregory Gorgeous, a makeup guru from Toronto on YouTube and his friends. He isn't just a makeup guru to me though-- he's a comedian as well.
Exhibit A - "Because anyone who honestly needs a VIDEO to know how to walk in heels should be put to sleep" DYING
Exhibit B - Don't you hate it when you go to Starbucks and this happens???
Episode 1 Review
I did some live tweeting (Tweet me @tracyylui) while I was watching the episode for the first time. But I'm just going to rewatch the episode and tell you my thoughts as I go along. HERE GOES!
- I love watching shows based in Toronto because I recognize the places
- Aww, my condolences to Greg and his family :(
- UM, Greg's house looks... GORGEOUS and expensive. But gorgeous. Holy.
- I find it interesting Greg has a closeted boyfriend (at least in this episode) because I feel like he would want someone who would be proud and out with him. Hmm
- Rachel looks different and not different as in different hair, makeup or clothes, ya dig? Does anyone think so too?
- Like I said on Twitter, I already hate Chad.
- Again, Chad... UGH
- Seeing the conversation between Greg and Arta, their friendship is cute!
- Omg Claire, just because your douchebag boyfriend wants you to be home at midnight, don't mean you gotta listen to him!
- "Don't let a man hold you down *WHIP*" AHAHAHA dead
- Awww at least Greg is respectful with Claire going home
Basically, I loved the episode and cannot wait to see more!
PS Greg retweeted/replied me and my life has been made. I love him!

Current Obsession + Music Album Review: One Direction - Take Me Home

Artist: One Direction
Album Name: Take Me Home
Release Date: November 9, 2012
iTunes Link: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/take-me-home/id572141438
One Direction has just released their new album "Take Me Home" and let me say... I was only a casual fan before this came out, meaning I liked their songs but didn't care much otherwise. However, this album has really made me a fan! The more I listen to their songs, the more it reminds me of the ~old boy bands~ aka BSB, N'Sync, etc.
The first song I listened to was "They Don't Know About Us" instant love and I mean, instant. This is what a boyband all about. The catchy tune, the harmonizing, sweet piano intro, their incredible voices, the lovey lyrics, etc. Pure boyband goodness right there. Definitely my favourite on the album.
Some of my other favourites include: Kiss You, Change My Mind, Little Things, Back For you, Irresistible (Bonus track), Rock Me and Summer Love. Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent album where I'm able to listen to the whole album and not feel the urge to skip to the next track, but those are just some of my absolute favourites.
When Little Things came out, I appreciated the acoustic guitar and ballad feel, but for some reason, didn't adore the song as much. However, after I watched a few live performances and listening to it more, I fell in love! The harmonizing is what got me. Incredible.
Right now, I'm head over heels in love with Irresistible and I'm wondering how it didn't make it to the main tracklist. It kind of also gives me a R&Bish feel. I'm not sure if it's the beat, but nonetheless a very lovely song.
The album has already reached #1 and #2 in Canada. Excellent work, boys! Go listen to the album if you haven't and even if you're not a fan.
And some shameless self promotion. I did a cover on the acoustic guitar on their song Little Things. I would really appreciate if you checked it out & let me know what you think. Thanks!
