Drama Review: Secret Garden / 시크릿 가든

Synopsis: The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin), an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won), a poor and humble stuntwoman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses. Their accidental meeting, when Joo Won mistakes Ra Im for actress Park Chae Rin, marks the beginning of a tense, bickering relationship, through which Joo Won tries to hide a growing attraction to Ra Im that both confuses and disturbs him. To complicate matters further, a strange sequence of events results in them swapping bodies.

Rating: 10/10

This drama was just... perfection. I don't even know where to begin, but I can't stop thinking about this drama even after I finished it. It left a lasting impression on me and I really wish more dramas were like this one. My mom was watching this a few months ago and she was like "THIS GUY (Hyun Bin) IS SO CUTE!" I was like "...eh..." but now I see why she thought he was cute. He had such a hilarious and cute personality on the drama. So forceful and so witty, I loved his character so much. My mom and I have been slightly obsessed with Korean dramas lately ;D

All the actors did a great job. Park Joon Geum played Joo Won's (Hyun Bin) stubborn and evil mother and I found myself hating her SO much but that's because she did such a great job playing the part. Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won) is actually such a cool character. Her job just looks so fun. The only thing that did annoy a bit was towards the end of the drama when she KEPT crying every other episode. I understand silent crying but she was like, loud crying and I was like, goddammit my parents are going to wonder what the hell is coming out of my computer. Oska, Yoon Seul and Ah Young were all good characters as well. I especially enjoyed Oska (Yoon Sang Hyun) for his big personality but good heart. Basically, the characters were perfection!

After Gil Ra Im's (Ha Ji Won) fairy god(father) makeover. She looks beautiful! Does anyone think she looks like Jenny Suk?

The plot, THE MUSIC, the characters, the ending, EVERYTHING exceeded my expectations and my expectations were already high just because I watched this drama solely based on the fact that everyone kept saying it was a good drama. I just cannot believe how good this drama was. One thing I will say is that if I were Gil Ra Im, I would have accepted Kim Joo Won in a heartbeat. Good looking, CHARMING, (the money is a bonus) but also likes a poor woman like me? Dream guy for sure!

I already featured "That Man" by Hyun Bin in my Music Monday so I will feature a different song in this review. 4Men's "Reason" Such a good song!

If you have not watched Secret Garden, go go go watch it! I guarantee you will not regret it! And if you have, let me know what you think in the comments below :)

  1. One of my 2 absolute favorites, the other being Rooftop Prince. Loved how realistic the ending was. It was a refreshing change from all the other perfect, fairytale-like endings of most k-dramas.
