Drama Review: Boys Over Flowers / 꽃보다 남자

Synopsis: Jan Di is an average girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store located near the luxurious and well known Shin Hwa College. Jan Di meets the four richest and most spoiled boys known as the F4. After saving a boy from jumping off the roof of Shinhwa High School, she is admitted into the school on a swimming scholarship. Jan Di tries to avoid confrontation with the F4 at all cost because she knows what happens to those that stand against them. However, when Jan Di's friend, Oh Min Ji, accidentally gets ice cream on the leader of the F4's shoes, she's forced to declare war on the leader of the F4, Goo Joon Pyo. What will happen though, when she falls in love with someone from the F4 and Goo Joon Pyo start feeling something for her too? Will the love triangle disrupt F4 and change their lives forever?

Rating: 9.5/10

Let me start off with why I gave it a 9.5 instead of a full out 10. This drama was really amazing but in the middle, I lacked motivation to watch it again because it was just dragging on and on. Typically, I like to watch Korean dramas because they're usually just around 16 episodes. This one was 25 but I decided to watch it because it had good ratings and I've watched HK dramas that were around 30 episodes. But this one was just 25 episodes too long! Jan Di (Koo Hye Sun) kept telling and promising Goo Jun Pyo's (Lee Min Ho) mom that she would never see him again, but somehow she manages to break the promise. I completely understand the reasons why she made the promises, but it was just so much repetitiveness.

I don't know how he did it, but Goo Jun Pyo won me over with his aggressive outer presence but gentleman-at-heart personality

At first, I was rooting for Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong). I watched him in Playful Kiss so I was biased towards him. I knew she would end up with Goo Joon Pyo but I still wished she ended up with Ji Hoo. Somewhere in the middle, I began to like Goo Joon Pyo but then I would think about everything Ji Hoo did for her. It's a hard decision to make! (Side note: Ji Hoo's hair, what is up with that! Did not suit him at all)

Overall, It was a great drama to watch although I would have loved it more if it was shortened somehow. I kind of wish we got to see Goo Joon Pyo and Jan Di actually marry and have kids. That would have been super cute. I totally did not get the whole 4 years thing with Goo Joon Pyo & Yi Jung. Reality = Jan Di and Ga Eul would have probably found somebody else lol. BUT a drama is a drama.
