Drama Review: K-Pop Extreme Survival / K-POP 최강 서바이벌

I will be starting a new mini series where I will be reviewing dramas I watch. I'm completely, completely new to the whole Korean drama thing. I was never quite a fan of the music or language but I gave it a chance after watching Skip Beat (my next review) and I absolutely love the culture now. So this is why we're here.

Synopsis:
Ji Seung Yeon dreams of becoming a hip-hop legend and unexpected events set her on the path to achieve just that, although there is an added obstacle - she has to dress up as a boy in order to join a male idol group. In the process, she meets Kang Woo Hyun, the leader of the popular idol group, M2, who captivates fans with a killer smile that masks his rude and selfish personality.

Overall Rating: 6/10

Warning: There may be spoilers. Read at your own risk ;D
The plot was interesting, actors are great, characters are hilarious, but the ending??? I was SO disappointed. So many things that they could have explained further in. For example: Manager Han and Director's story, or how exactly did Ji Seung Yeon tackle the news of her being a girl/being the Director's niece spreading to the public? Did M2 Juniors ever debut? What happens to Woo Hyun? Does he stay in M2? Go solo? What about Ji Seung Yeon? Does she continue to pursue her dreams? I have so many questions!!! I also thought it would be cool if they did a 5 years later thing, where we see Ji Seung Yeon dressed all girly and cute with Woo Hyun but that's just me.

Although Woo Hyun (Park Yoo Hwan) was a jerk in the beginning, I fell in love with him from the start. First of all, I love his hair! Is this part of the Korean style? He's cute when he's angry and even cuter when he smiles. What's there not to love? I was on the line with Ji Seung Yeon (Go Eun Ah) but she ultimately won me over with her caring personality. Honorable Mention goes to Kwon Ji Woo (Kwak Yong Hwan). He has a timid personality and I would have loved it if they played up the love triangle a little bit more. He's also cute, just not as cute as Woo Hyun/Park Yoo Hwan ;)

  1. I like your review just because we have the same feelings about the drama. I have so many question now... it suposed to have 16 ep, but because it had low audience the drama remain only with 14 ep. that's sad.
